From the PTO

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our deep thanks to Carolyn Drucker for organizing the Faculty/Staff Appreciation luncheon on May 8! Thanks to her efforts, generous contributions plus help from many parents, and donations from Panera and Union Street restaurants, there were plenty of delectable culinary delights awaiting teachers at 11:30am – all well received based on our observations and feedback from teachers. Thanks to all who helped make this luncheon a wonderful success!

We also thank Barbara Zolit for organizing the Farina Bike fundraiser. We don’t know how much money it raised, but we hope everyone needing bike supplies took advantage of this opportunity.

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

The PTO is successful thanks to the efforts of many volunteers. We welcome new faces – have you thought of getting involved? Some of the open positions for next year include: Treasurer, Magazine Drive, Building Brown, Chapter 766 Representative, Grounds, Membership, Picnic, Political Action Liaison, School Pictures. If any of these interest you, please let us know!  Get involved and make a difference!

Sincerely,
Nancy Leipzig (617-244-9508) and Karen Spier (617-965-0742), brownpto@brownpto.org

SPRING CONCERT UPDATE
We have a couple of great concerts coming up on May 24 and May 31:

Please remember to bring a treat to share for our after-the-concert get together. For us adults, the get together is a chance to celebrate both the beautiful music, which our kids make, and their teachers, who work with the kids all year to help them make that music. It's also a chance to catch up with people we don't get to see often enough. For the kids, it's a chance to hang out and enjoy each other’s company WITHOUT having to worry about being late for class.

This is also a fine time to contribute to the Brown PTO music fund. If you are able to support the music program in this way, please make out a check to the Brown PTO (write music fund in the memo space) and send it into the office or drop cash in our fund box at the concert. The music fund helps support the Brown music and theater program by allowing the teachers to acquire more interesting music for the kids, improve the sound system, help protect and maintain instruments, etc. If you add a note with your contribution, we will be happy to send a card to your child's teacher(s), whom you would like to honor with a contribution.

See you there!

(NOTE: The music committee is always looking for parents to help. If you’re interested, please contact Julia Saldanha (617-795-0084, saldanha@rcn.com.)
